Popular North Side restaurant to become setting for 'The PITT'

Wednesday headlines

Pittsburgh's Headlines: October 28, 2026

A popular Pittsburgh restaurant on the North Side will be closed on Thursday, but for good reason!

Max’s Allegheny Tavern, home of great German food on Suismon Street since 1903, will be closed while hit HBO Max show “The PITT” films at the restaurant.

“We will be used for filming a scene for the TV show,” the owners of Max’s said on social media.

While most of the filming is done in a Hollywood studio, the production is in Pittsburgh filming exterior locations for season three of “The PITT” coming out early next year.

Actors Noah Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, Taylor Dearden and Patrick Ball talked to reporters on Monday, with Ball, who plays Dr. Frank Langdon, saying they will also be filming at the Allegheny County Jail.

Though, most of the exterior shots are filmed in and around Allegheny General Hospital.

Filming is expected to wrap up in Pittsburgh by the end of the week.
