PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - In many ways it's the unofficial start of light up night and the start of the holiday season for Downtown Pittsburgh.
Bishop David Zubik and leaders from many other congregations were on hand to bless the Creche Friday afternoon in front of the US Steel Tower on Grant Street.
The Blessed Trinity Academy Choir and Band were on hand to perform with the students' parents on hand to watch along with downtown workers who took a moment to watch the blessing.
"Our hope is that tens of thousands of people will return to visit the crèche this season, and let this larger-than-life symbol emphasize the true spirit and meaning of Christmas in the greater Pittsburgh area," said Monsignor Ronald Lengwin, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, who for 21 years has served as staff for the crèche on behalf of Christian Leaders Fellowship.
