PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The local council of the Boy Scouts of America says it has not filed for bankruptcy following a filing by the national Boy Scouts organization.
That means programming, camping, service projects and administrative support will continue as normal according to a statement from the Laurel Highland's Council.
Pittsburgh attorney Alan Perer tells KDKA radio's Marty Griffin.
“They want to protect the assets of all the councils, the scout council, they’re not part of the bankruptcy,” said Perer.
The bankruptcy is meant to set up a compensation fund for the victims of child sex abuse in the Boy Scouts.
The Scouts internal files reportedly name more than 8-thousand leaders and 12-thousand victims of sex abuse over seven decades.
