Man Who Reportedly Threatened To 'Blow Up' State Building Arrested In Mt. Lebanon

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A man who threatened to “blowup” a state office building, get “gunned down by the police”, and made threats against CIA headquarters in Washington D.C. on social media is now in custody.

Whitehall Police put out an alert for a person potentially armed and dangerous, driving a white Mercedes around 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Mt. Lebanon police were advised to look for the car on Washington Road and saw it near the intersection of Woodhaven Drive.

Police pulled the vehicle over, identified the suspect and took him into custody without incident.

Officers found “numerous weapons in the vehicle along with components used in the making of an improvised explosive device,” according to a release from Mt. Lebanon Police.

The Allegheny County Bomb Squad was called to remove the items safety.

The currently unnamed suspect is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive and the FBI are part of the investigation
