PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Michael Rosfeld took the stand in his own defense as the defense opened in the trial Thursday afternoon in the shooting of 17-year-old Antwon Rose.
KDKA Radio’s Joe DeStio says the defense didn’t waste any time with former East Pittsburgh officer Rosfeld taking the stand for more than an hour.
He testified about the traffic stop in which Antwon Rose was killed. He said “I was thinking they were the shooting suspects, they were most likely to be armed.”
He described how he perceived a threat against him perhaps a handgun pointed toward him when he opened fire.
Under tough cross-examination he was asked why he didn’t wait for backup and also asked about why he didn’t order the suspects out of the car.
