PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — Accused Tree of Life shooter Robert Bowers of Baldwin faces new charges from the US Justice Department.
A 63-count superceding indictment issued today by a grand jury in Pittsburgh alleges that Bowers shot to death 11 victims and wounded others because of their religion.
Many of the 13 additional counts are categorized as hate crimes.
If convicted, Bowers currently faces life in prison without the chance for parole. The justice department is still determining if it will seek the death penalty.
