PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - If Jeremy Goldman's vision becomes reality; you'll soon be able to quickly travel from the West End Overlook to the North shore…on a zip line!

Goldman, the owner of the Pittsburgh Zipline Company tells KDKA Radio those taking a trip on the zip line would start and end on the North Shore.

"The plan right now is for everybody to start on the North Shore; you'll come to our retail facility, check in, sign waivers, get fitted for the harnesses . . . board our shuttle van and then we will drive you to the overlook . . . and then jump on the zip line and zip back down to the retail facility," said Goldman.

Goldman adds four people will be able to zip down parallel to each other at a time and cameras will be installed on the cable to take your picture "just like on a roller coaster, you'll be able to get a picture of you zip-lining with the city skyline behind you."

The zip line would be approximately 2,500 feet long making it the longest one over water in North American and 2nd longest in the entire world.

Goldman says at the highest point you'll be about 220-230 feet above ground and about 70 feet above the water as your travel over the river.

Goldman emphasis that the trip will be "very, very safe" and that they have just about everything in place to move forward with the project.

"Insurance is in place, the permitting is all in place, pretty much the real estate is tentative but in place," said Goldman.  "The only thing we're waiting on is approval from CSX and Norfolk Southern, they own the train tracks that are at the bottom of the mountain and they own the airspace so we . . . are working with them and government officials to try to get permission to do that."

Goldman adds if the train companies say yes soon, they'd be up and operating by May 2020.
