Nineteen members of the Hustlas Don't Sleep, or HDS, gang have been indicted or otherwise charged, and seventeen of the nineteen are now behind bars.

HDS operated out of the McKeesport, Turtle Creek, Wilkinsburg, and Monroeville areas.

The feds have declared this region a high intensity drug trafficking area, with more than 100 indictments and more than a million dollars in cash being recovered in the past six months.

FBI special agent in charge Bob Jones says many gangs have switched from heroin to fentanyl and cocaine in the area, and just one gang member impacts hundreds of people's lives.

"People are afraid to go to school, they're afraid to go to the bus stop, they're afraid to go to their place of worship, they're afraid to go to the grocery store because they know these people are on the street."

US Attorney Scott Brady says that gang members must commit murder or other acts of violence in order to prove their membership.
