HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced Monday that he has joined forces with New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, Delaware Governor John Carney and Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo to create a multi-state council to get people back to work and to restore the economy.

The council will be made up of one health care expert, one economic development expert and the respective Chief of Staff from each state. Their goal is to develop an integrated regional framework to gradually life each states’ state-at-home orders while minimizing the risk of spreading COVID-19.

"Our highest priority remains protecting the health and safety of Pennsylvanians,” Gov. Wolf said in a statement. “While my administration continues to take critical steps to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, I also recognize that we must look ahead and take a measured, careful approach to prepare for the future while ensuring that we don't undo all of our efforts. Pennsylvania will work collaboratively with our partners both in state and in surrounding states to develop a comprehensive strategy that first focuses on health but also addresses the need to gradually restore our economy."
