PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A majority of journalism and political science students who met today at Point Park's Center for Media Innovation think the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump will not be fair and the results have been pre-ordained."No one in this room of 40 to 50 young people thought that this was going to be an open and fair process," said Center Director Andrew Conte."They thought that this was already pre-ordained. It was an open and shut sort of case," said Conte.Sophomore Alex Frank said she is very interested in the trial but thinks a lot of her peers have lost interest because its in the media every day. "It's a lot of information to take in at one time. It's a lot of noise. You can't really tell what's true and what's not."That was a point stressed to students by Conte, that they have to pick their news sources carefully."And so it's really incumbant on us as citizens now to have a wide range of sources that we're looking at and reading from and listening to so that we're getting the full story, the full picture."Conte says the biases of news sources are a major difference from the last impeachment trial of Bill Clinton. Will students, even political science and journalism students, be watching?Senior Zach Brandner says not so much. "Honestly, I don't have a lot of time right now. I'm a senior. I have an internship and all that stuff. Not a whole lot of time. Obviously, I'll be keeping up with all the news on my phone."
