PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Battle of Gettysburg was the largest battle ever fought on the North American Continent.
The grounds now serve as a memorial and history lesson with over 1300 statues in town (one of the largest outdoor sculpture exhibits on the planet.) It traffics about one million visitors per year.
As Confederate monuments continue to come down all across the country, you have to wonder what the future is for those in Gettysburg.
At this point, there is no plan to remove them.
“We take the safety of those monuments very seriously,” says Jason Martz, Public Affairs Officer for Gettysburg National Military Park.
