PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The number of coronavirus cases in Allegheny County is now at 27, nine more than Thursday.

Five of those new cases are hospitalized and the others are in self-isolation at home.

"Similar to what has been seen in other states and other countries, the number of those testing positive will continue to rise as testing increases. The goal here is to slow community spread as much as possible and to reduce spread to high risk groups through careful mitigation efforts. ACHD testing continues for specific high-risk individuals – those with known contact, health care workers, first responders and those in high risk categories," The Allegheny County Health Department said in a statement.

If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough and shortness of breath) you are asked to please stay home and call your primary care physician to determine if you should be tested for coronavirus.

The state's offical total stands at 185, that does not include the new numbers in Allegheny.

Anyone with any questions is asked to call the COVID-19 hotline anytime at 1-888-856-2774.
