Coronavirus testing at PA's State Lab

HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) –The number of coronavirus cases in Pennsylvania continue to rise.

The PA Department of Health confirmed that as of midnight, April 8, there are 1,680 new cases to bring the state total to 16,239 in all 67 counties.


That's a daily increase of 101 compared to new cases on Tuesday

70 additional people have died bringing the total to 310.

A total of 82,299 people have tested negative for coronavirus.

The age breakdown:

  • Less than 1% are aged 0-4;
  • Nearly 1% are aged 5-12;
  • 1% are aged 13-18;
  • Nearly 7% are aged 19-24; 
  • 41% are aged 25-49; 
  • 29% are aged 50-64; and
  • 20% are aged 65 or older.

 A majority of the patients hospitalized are 65 or older and there have been no pediatric deaths to date.

All residents in the commonwealth are currently under a Stay-at-Home.

That order is currently in effect through April 30.
