PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The number of confirmed MRSA cases at Pittsburgh's Children's Hospital remains six babies and six staff members.

Officials believe the MRSA bacteria may have come from a visitor who stepped forward but that has not been confirmed.

The hospital's chief of nursing, Diana Hupp, says none of those infected is showing symptoms.

As for hospital staff, There is some anxiety and some concerns, said Hupp. “We have been communicating . . . with them each day several times to ensure that they know we are doing everything we can.”

All cases are confined to the neonatal intensive care unit where visitation is limited to parents and guardians.

All staff and babies have been tested. No more babies have tested positive for MRSA and they are awaiting more detailed lab results to find out if one or more strains of MRSA are discovered.
