PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - It’s that time....Girl Scout cookie sales start Friday. 

Thin Mints, Tagalongs and the new Lemon-Ups.

The cookies feature message from Girl Scout entrepreneurs that in include phrases like “I am a go-getter and “I am an innovator” along with six other phrases.

The crispy lemon cookie replaces Savannah Smiles.

But who’s doing the selling the actual Scouts?  Or Mom or Dad?Tracy Gilliard is the Leader of Girl Scout Troop 52721 - a troop of 58 girls and she tells KDKA Radio’s Lynne Hayes-Freeland it’s mainly the scouts.

She adds the idea behind selling the cookies is to teach the girls life skills.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches girls about entrepreneurship as they have fun learning essential skills like money management, public speaking, and decision making, which set them up for a lifetime of success,” the Girl Scouts said in a press release.

Girl Scout Cookies can only be purchased from a registered Girl Scout.
