PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Over 1,000 estimated cars were lined up on the Fullerton Street and in the PPG Paints Arena parking lot Friday morning to pick up food supplies from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Cars are driving into the parking lot and then are released into a “loading zone” where two boxes of food are loaded into the vehicle’s trunk.

A large number of cars were at the site hours before the event started at 10 a.m. on Friday.

The Food Bank says they are aiming fill 1,300 cars with food.

The Food Bank previously held drive-up food distribution events at its headquarters in Duquesne.

KDKA Radio and the three other Entercom Pittsburgh radio stations (Y108, 100.7 Star and 93.7 The Fan) will hold a Feed the Need Radiothon on Tuesday, April 14.

The goal for the event is to raise enough money to buy 100,000 meals for the Food Bank.
