
PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - On Tuesday, Larry and John spoke with Mark McGowan the owner of the alligator that escaped in Beechview last week.
“Chomp” along with two other gators captured in Pittsburgh in the past month are being sent away to a zoo in New Jersey and then onto Florida.
McGowan told KDKA Radio he wants Chomp back and a GoFundMe page was even created.
Then in the afternoon Pittsburgh Police and and animal control removed over 30 animals from McGowan’s Beechview home.
Public safety spokesperson Chris Togneri said during a wellness check officers “observed many animals and reptiles living in poor conditions”
Along with a reptile expert from the Pittsburgh Zoo, authorizes seized
Togneri adds the animals that were being properly cared for were allowed to stay.
The confiscated animals and reptiles were transferred to shelters including the Humane Animal Rescue in the East End.
McGowan is not currently charged with anything but an investigation is ongoing.
