HARRISBURG, Pa (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The real estate industry in Pennsylvania can start to get back to work as the state slowly reopens following a halt to normal business activities since March amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
Governor Tom Wolf made the announcement on Tuesday allowing real estate businesses to immediately begin to conduct limited activities. The administration also provided guidance for operating in red and yellow zones of the state.
“We continue to review our policies and the scientific data to determine the safest approach for all activities in the commonwealth,” Governor Wolf said. “While at this point more than two-thirds of the state will be in the yellow phase of the state’s reopening plan by Friday, May 22, we are still evaluating how industries may be able to conduct business appropriately in red phase counties, including the real estate industry.
“This industry impacts numerous types of businesses and Pennsylvania homebuyers who are in the process of, or considering, purchasing a home. It’s critical that these businesses, regardless of whether they are in red phase or yellow phase counties, strictly adhere to all appropriate guidelines and guidance,” Governor Wolf said.
To conduct business, real estate companies will have to follow guidelines set by the administration which include the wearing of masks or face coverings by all present at in-person activities, all in-person activities are to be scheduled and they are to be limited to no more than a real estate professional and two other people inside a property at a time. In addition, proper social distancing practices must be followed among other guidelines. See the full document of guidance for in-person business.
