PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Protests against police brutality seem to be building momentum for further police reforms in Harrisburg.
State Senate Minority Leader Jay Costa is backing a package of reforms first introduced a couple of years ago including new rules on use of force.
Defund the police is a newly used phrase at many protests but Costa tells the KDKA Radio Morning Show,
“I hope they don’t, I think that we need to maintain level funding for our police taking it away I think would make it more difficult for our communities,” said Costa.
Costa proposes a statewide registry of officers who have been repeatedly disciplined so they are not hired by other departments.
