PA Turnpike Restrictions Start On Wednesday

Road Work Starting Wednesday On PA Turnpike

Trafford, PA (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) -- Single-lane restrictions begin Wednesday on the Pennsylvania Turnpike between the Pittsburgh (Exit #57) and Irwin (Exit #67) interchanges.

The restrictions are so crews can safely demolish bridge abutments from the former Trafford/Murrysville Road Bridge at Milepost 59.6.  The PA Turnpike Commission says the work can only be done during the day because of the excessive noise the work will create.

The single-lane restrictions will take place, weather permitting, according to the following schedule:

  • February 27th: 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastbound
  • February 28th: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.Westbound
  • March 1st: 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Eastbound
  • March 2nd: 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. in both directions

All of this work is related to widening of the Turnpike between Monroeville and Irwin that is scheduled to start in 2023.
