PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Unemployment offices in Pennsylvania have been inundated with claims due to the COVID-19 pandemic closures impacting industries across the state.

Unemployment Compensation Director Susan Dickinson says wait times may be long, but some requirements have been waived for those affected.

Instead of waiting during the waiting week, you will actually be paid for the waiting week on your claim, which is the first week of the claim, you also do not have to search for work or register for work in the time being,” said Dickinson.

Now these changes will not be included in the information sent to those who file claims.

Dickinson says the most up-to-date information is on the department’s website.
