
PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Car insurance rates in the Pittsburgh area have risen 41 percent since 2011 but remain below Pennsylvania and U.S. averages. The study by The Zebra car insurance search engine shows the average annual premium in the Pittsburgh metro area is $1,343. That’s $46 less than the state average and $127 below the national average.
The zip codes here with the highest premiums are 15210 Mt. Oliver, 15211 Mt. Washington-Duquesne Heights, and 15206 East Liberty-Highland Park. The zip codes where premiums are the lowest are 15009 Beaver, 15010 Beaver Falls, and 15001 Aliquippa.
“The Pittsburgh metro area has seen rates increase 40.9% since 2011,” says The Zebra’s Alyssa Connolly. “But that upward trend has leveled to zero increase in the past year.”
The Zebra’s national study explored 61 million car insurance premiums across every zip code.
