PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The City of Pittsburgh is launching a program, where twice a week, Pittsburgh residents will be able to recycle electronics and household hazardous waste at a drop-off site in the Strip District.
The facility located at 3001 Railroad Street will operate Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting Wednesday, July 24.
The city’s recycling supervisor Teresa Bradley tells KDKA Radio's Lynne Hayes-Freeland that the cost is based on the products weight.
For example, a television is 40 cents a pound and hazardous items like paint oil bases will cost 80 cents a pound.
The facility will also take propane tanks.
In order to use the drop-off, appointments must be scheduled in advance, through their website or by calling 814-425-7773.
