PITSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Starting in 2021, the City of Pittsburgh will offer employees free fertility coverage.

The coverage will be offered to employees in the Municipal Healthcare Group. Two cycles of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) will be covered.

“The City of Pittsburgh is a welcoming place to work, where we are always looking to improve the quality of life for our employees and their families,” Mayor Peduto said in a released statement.

Once in place, Pittsburgh will be among cities that offer both IVF coverages as well as 'gender affirmation' surgery. The surgery coverage began back in 2017.
