
PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A raccoon found near Pine Creek Road and Oakridge Drive in McCandless Township has tested positive for rabies.
The raccoon is the seventh animal to test positive for rabies in Allegheny County this year.
That includes four raccoons, one bat, one cat and or groundhog.
Rabies is a virus that is transmitted though and animal bite or scratch and can be fatal if left untreated.
Anyone who sees unusual behavior in an email should contact local police or the PA Game Commission.
Also, the county reminds you to keep you pets up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations.
