Reminder to Pet Owners: Don't Leave Your Dog In A Hot Car

High temperatures in the mid 90s are expected all week and the heat can be dangerous for animals in vehicles.

In a tweet, Pittsburgh Public Safety reminded pet owners "Dogs can overheat in vehicles with the windows only cracked. Pittsburgh Animal Care & Control states a dog may not show symptoms until it is too late. If you see an animal in a locked vehicle, you are encouraged to dial 9-1-1."

According to the Humane Society website, when it's 80 degrees outside, the temperature inside a car can reach 99 degrees in just 10 minutes and rolling down windows isn't enough to lower the temperature inside a car.
