PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh air quality shows improvement but still ranks among the worst in the country in a new American Lung Association study.

It’s of special interest this year because bad air has been linked to a higher death rate from COVID-19.

The State of the Air report ranks the Pittsburgh metro area tied for 8th worst in the country for fine particles pollution or soot and 39th worst for ozone.

While the report mentions air quality improvements here in all measures, Allegheny County is one of just 14 counties in the country to get F grades for soot and ozone.
