PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Sunday hunting could be legalized in Pennsylvania this year. But first, some old laws need to be reversed.
They're called blue laws, basically restrictions on what we can do on Sundays.
Playing baseball, hosting a concert, even going to the movies are all illegal.
That's also why car dealerships are closed on Sundays.
Senator Jim Brewster of Allegheny County says some of these laws just don't make sense.
“There’s some pushback for a number of different reasons,” said Brewster. “Its tradition, a lot of people are still resistant to change.”
He's pushing for hunting restrictions to be lifted on some Sundays throughout the year.
His bill has already passed the Senate and will go to the house in the fall.
Some other antiquated laws still on the books in Pennyslvania include, fortune telling is considered illegal and sleeping on top of a refrigerator outside is also a no-no.
Some other goofy laws include it is illegal for a house to have 16 women living in it together because it is considered a brothel.
There are also some laws you may not be aware of when it comes to weddings. A minister cannot perform a ceremony if one of the participants is drunk and it is also illegal to shoot a gun, canon or any other explosive weapon at a wedding.
