Two Police Officers Injured In South Side Saturday Night

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Two officers were injured on while trying to get a large crowd off of the 1500 and 1700 blocks of East Carson Street on Saturday night.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, police reports said "large and unruly crowds...flooded into the street" around 2:15 a.m. as the bars closed to watch a fight that had broken out.


The massive crowds halted traffic. One cop had his foot ran over as he was writing a traffic citation, and another injured his knee while trying to assist.

Both were taken to UMPC Mercy and are in stable condition.

Tarin Smith of Ocean, N.J. was arrested on aggravated assault, reckless driving, and other charges.

Eric James of Westerville, Ohio was arrested for failing to disperse, resisting arrest and obstruction.
