PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - For the first time in two years, Allegheny County is recording unhealthy ozone air pollution readings.
The federal EPA eight-hour standard for ozone is .70 On Monday, all three Pittsburgh area monitors were in the unhealthy range, .74 in Harrison, .71 in Lawrenceville and South Fayette.
Those are the first exceedances since July 10, 2018.
Ozone builds in hot, dry weather and can cause breathing problems, especially for the eldery and people with respiratory problems.
Officials advise people to reduce carbon emissions by driving less and reducing the amount of electricity used.

Limit daytime driving.Combine trips when possible.Postpone mowing the lawn until after 7 p.m.Save energy.
