PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator, Doctor Deborah Birx, made an unannounced trip to Pittsburgh today, visiting with Allegheny County officials and Pittsburgh leaders.
A Spokesperson for Allegheny County told KDKA Radio in a statement that Dr. Birx requested to meet with County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Dr. Debra Bogen and the county's COVID response team.
The statement adds the county was proud to host Birx and appreciated the accolades that they had for Allegheny County's response thus far, and the opportunity to talk about best practices and share advice with Dr. Birx and her team.
In a tweet posted by the Office of The Mayor's official Twitter Account, multiple photos of Birx meeting with Mayor Bill Peduto, Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert, and others, were shown, along with a caption that says that after meeting with Allegheny County Health
Department, Bill Peduto met Birx to discuss where Pittsburgh stands. It adds that Birx lauded Pittsburgh Public Safety's preventive methods as a model for first responders nationwide.
