In the 1980s the name Hulk Hogan and Hulkamania were synonymous with names like Mr. T, Alf, Michael Jackson, Van Halen, Ghostbusters and pretty much anything else you can think of 80s related.
He was the man that turned professional wrestling mainstream and Hulk Hogan became a household name.
But, on Monday night, during WWE Raw’s debut on Netflix, years of negative stories from wrestling colleagues, claims of racism, partisan political support and more came raining down in the form of boos.
Even a half decade ago, it would be hard to believe Hogan getting booed. His popularity (mainly nostalgia) lasted into the early 2010s.
But then his lawsuit with non-defunct Gawker became public and accusations of racism came out, along with a sex tape.
Hogan was also accused by some wresters for being in business for himself on some occasions back during his WWF and then WCW days.
Hogan likely made an appearance due to his beer, “Real American Beer” is one of the main sponsors of WWE Raw now that’s it’s on Netflix.
WrestleTalk's Oli Davis called it the “funniest thing on the show.”
Hogan thanked the crowd at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles for always supporting him and sticking by him while a large portion of them booed.
It’s just like Two-Face said in “The Dark Knight”, “You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
Hogan hasn’t been booed that loud since he became a bad guy and formed the nWo in the mid-90s, only this time, it wasn’t the desired result.
