PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – A Pennsylvania tree will be on display this holiday season.
A 23-foot Douglas Fir from the Mahantongo Valley Farms in Northumberland County was chosen on Monday to be the Christmas tree in the Blue Room at The White House.
"Since 1929, the Blue Room tree has been known as the White House's official tree and is traditionally trimmed by the first lady," The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture posted on their Facebook page.
The farm that the tree was chosen from was also a top finisher in eight categories in the 2019 Farm Show Christmas Tree competition, including First Place Hybrid Cross Fir, which qualified them for the 2019 national level. The farm won the 2019 National Christmas Tree Contest.
The tree will be seen by more than 2 million people this holiday season.
