PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Just in time for the new Mister Rogers movie "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" hitting theaters this Friday, the Heinz History Center is adding over 20 items worn by Rogers on "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood".

Rogers' widow Joanne recently donated the clothing to the History Center.

The items include clothes he wore on and off the screen including his favorite jumpsuit he wore around the house, a shirt he wore while doing puppetry on his show, as well as a brown cardigan sweater knitted by his mother Nancy McFeely Rogers.

In addition, a costume worn by Officer Clemmons will also be on display.

Highlights from the largest collection of items from "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" for public view on the History Center's 4th flood include:

  • The entryway and living room set that Mister Rogers walked through to begin each episode;
  • King Friday XIII's castle;
  • The Great Oak Tree, residence of Henrietta Pussycat and X the Owl;
  • Mr. McFeely's "Speedy Delivery" tricycle; and
  • A variety of additional items and puppets from the "Neighborhood of Make-Believe."

Curators helped crew members of "A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood" recreate the original set from his WQED program.

The new items will be on display beginning Friday, November 22 the same day the feature film is released.
