PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Marathon runner Matt Scoletti ran ten marathons in the first ten days of August. One marathon equals 26.2 miles. That's 262 miles!
“I’m doing this for my wife’s charity, which is Young Adult Survivors United; and she helps young adult cancer survivors emotionally, financially, and socially,” Matt said during the KDKA Radio Morning Show on Friday.
Matt’s wife, Stephanie, is a cancer survivor herself.
For every $10 donated, Matt runs one mile.
“What I didn’t realize Larry - there was going to be so many insanely generous people in this world; or maybe just people that want to see me go through large amounts of agony and pain,” Matt said sarcastically.
However, Matt’s wife is not his only inspiration.
“I got into the party scene and struggled with alcohol for about ten years before deciding to put that life behind me forever, and I think that helps drive me as well,” Matt explains. “I want to run as far away from that person as I can, I guess no pun intended there.”
