PRC chemical collection

PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) The Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) has scheduled a chemical collection event for Allegheny County on Aug. 14.

The event is open for those in the area to responsibly dispose of household cleaners, paint, pesticides, and more.


The PRC household chemical collection is set to take place on Saturday, Aus. 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Boyce Park Ski Lodge parking lot.

To participate, you must register in advance at www.prc.org/HHWregistration or by calling 412-488-7490.

There is a $20 fee for up to 10 gallons or 50 pounds of product.

Items that are going to be collected are aerosol cans, automotive fluids, chemistry sets, gasoline, kerosene, household cleaners, thermometers, paint products, pesticides, forms of chemicals.

Loads exceeding the 10 gallon/50 pound limit will be subject to an additional fees at the discretion of the staff.

If a participant wants to turn in a fire extinguisher, it will cost $12 per extinguisher.
