UPDATE: As of December 5, the Consumer Alert for Lucca Ristorante & Wine Bar has been lifted. All issues have been resolved.

Consumer Alerts have been issued for two establishments in North Oakland.

Alerts were issued at Lucca Ristorante & Wine Bar and Kohli’s Indian Imports, both on South Craig Street.

Seven total violations, one considered high-risk, were observed during an inspection at Lucca.

The “high-risk” violation was new and old rodent droppings were found all around the kitchen area including on the cookline, salad preparation area, wine room, dining room, server station, behind the bar and more.

The Allegheny County Health Department says that is a repeat violation.

One live mouse and five dead mice were found in “tin cats” throughout the kitchen area.

And, nesting material was found on the floor under shelving in a wine room.

Next door at Kohli’s, six violations (three high-risk) were observed.

Some bags of food for sale were found with chew marks on them, a Samosa in the hot food holding unit was measured well below the acceptable temperature (124 degrees) and old and new rodent droppings were found in four separate areas.

Both Consumer Alerts were posted by the ACHD on December 3 and as of December 4, remain active.
