Believe it or not, there are just 154 days until the start of the 2025 high school football season in Western, Pa, and the 2025 campaign will begin with the second annual KDKA Kickoff Classic LIVE at the Wolvarena, presented by Allegent Community Federal Credit Union.
A collection of five incredible high school football games will take place at one of the most historic venues in our region - the iconic Wolvarena in Turtle Creek- widely lauded as one of the greatest places to watch a high school football game in America.
All games will air live and exclusively on KDKA Radio, the flagship station of the WPIAL.
The two-day event will showcase primarily local teams, with other prolific programs from Pennsylvania traveling the region to round out a diverse, and highly competitive lineup of must-see games for area football fans.
On Friday, August 22:
Woodland Hills will battle North Allegheny at 5:00 p.m.
At 8:00, Pittsburgh Central Catholic will take on longtime powerhouse LaSalle College High School from Montgomery County, Pa.
On Saturday, August 23:
McKeesport vs. Delaware Valley (Pike County, Pa) at Noon.
At 3:30, Steel Valley battles defending City League Champion Westinghouse.
At 7:00, West Mifflin meets Elizabeth Forward.
“All of us here KDKA are already counting down the days before the arrival of another exciting high school football season,” said Senior Vice President and Market Manager Michael Spacciapolli. “Once again, this year, there will be no better way to get the season started than with the Kickoff Classic LIVE from the Wolvarena with an incredible lineup of games.”
Single game and all-session tickets to the event will go on sale this summer.
