Over 54 pounds of marijuana was confiscated at Pittsburgh International Airport and a woman faces felony charges.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection says 30-year-old Jetta Monet Corbett of Brockton, Massachusetts was on her way to London, England when the cannabis was found in her luggage.
CBP officers found “numerous vacuum-sealed packages inside two black, hard-sided suitcases," on May 24.
Upon inspection, over 54 pounds of marijuana was found in her bags, valued around $240,000 on the street and two to three times higher in Europe.
“Though CBP bulk marijuana seizures at PIT airport are extremely rare, CBP officers across the country continue to observe a trend of transnational criminal organizations attempting to transport marijuana through passenger baggage and express air delivery to Europe and Africa where high-quality weed can generate huge profits,” a release stated.
Corbett and the marijuana were turned over to Allegheny County Police.
She faces multiple charges including a felony count of possession with intent to deliver.
