We’re saluting Pittsburgh’s outgoing police chief, a man honored by City Council which made June 21st Scott Schubert Day.
Chief Schubert is retiring after 29 years with the Police Bureau.
The Pittsburgh native started as a patrolman, becoming chief in 2017.
Among Schubert’s accomplishments are establishing a Community Engagement Office; a Group Violence Intervention partnership; and having all officers wear body cameras.
Wednesday, he and Leon Ford, who was paralyzed in a police shooting, announced a new foundation dedicated to ending gun violence.
Next, Schubert will work at the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services headquarters in Clarksburg, West Virginia, overseeing Global Law Enforcement Support.
We wish him well and thank Chief Schubert for his dedicated service to the City of Pittsburgh.
