The Port Authority is planning way ahead for the future of getting Pittsburghers around.
Their NEXTransit report outlines 18 new projects, and for the very first time, figures out how much they could cost.
Port Authority Spokesman Adam Brandolph told NewsRadio KDKA that it's a multi-million-dollar plan and "Some of the projects include a new bus garage, East Busway extension, light rail extension, a new downtown transit center and the one that has taken a lot of the spotlight is the proposal for an aerial tram."
The aerial tram, a Portland-style gondola, would connect the Strip District and the Hill District.
"For anyone wanting to go from Hazelwood to Oakland, Oakland to the Strip District - it is really difficult right now, so an aerial tram likely would be the most cost-effective and certainly the most direct."
And they're planning a series of public meetings to hear what you think about these big plans.
The first is online. That's coming up Wednesday, July 21.
Then meetings later this month at Schenley Plaza and Market Square, and a final online meeting, which will be in August, before the proposals go to the Port Authority board.
