We have a major fire risk alert for you as a result of a blaze in Chippewa Township, Beaver County.
It started around 8:30 Friday night in the basement of a home in the Highland Meadows neighborhood.
No one was home when it started, Fire Chief David Syka tells NewsRadio KDKA that the cause of the fire was an air fryer that the homeowners left unattended.
"The last time they used it was Tuesday or Wednesday," said Syka, "It was just sitting there, it was plugged in but not turned on. There have been some recalls throughout the past year on air fryers [that] just spontaneously catch on fire."
Chief Syka advises that if your air fryer is not in use, just unplug it along with any other small electrical appliances like toasters and blenders.
It's also a good safety measure to keep air fryers away from any other heat source.
