Allderdice girls basketball team has two positive COVID tests; season in doubt

PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) — Pittsburgh Public Schools announced Friday that the City League Girls Basketball season is suspended after players and coaches on five separate teams either tested positive for COVID-19 or came in close contact.

Two people associated with the Pittsburgh Allderdice girls team tested positive but were last with the team on Thursday, March 4.

Unfortunately, that means teams that had met with Allderdice in recent days are now under quarantine, as well.

These schools include Pittsburgh Brashear, Obama, and Perry.

It might go without saying, but other members of the Allderdice team are also under quarantine now.

The quarantine will run for 14 days.

And independently of Allderdice, the Westinghouse girls team also reported a separate case of COVID-19 among its associates.

So coaches and players for Westinghouse are also going into quarantine.

Because of the number of teams currently on hold, the District is considering a cancellation of the remainder of the season.
