With all the talk about vaccine passports these days, many are wondering if Allegheny County employees will be required to show some sort of verification before coming back to work.
County Executive Rich Fitzgerald tells Marty Griffin on Newsradio KDKA that the idea is under consideration.
"We're still figuring that out right now", he says. "I think it could be more mandatory in places that are more, where you're kind of trapped, so to speak, like jail, and places like that, public works, I don't know, we're still mulling through that and see where we'll gonna go with that"
Allegheny County has a workforce of more than 6,000.
Meanwhile, Fitzgerald also had some good news to report today.
"The good news is we're over 75% of the people that are over the age of 65 have been vaccinated with at least one shot".
He also touted a new vaccine clinic that the county is opening up in McKeesport. He said Governor Tom Wolf is in town today to tour the new facility.
