Allegheny County Councilwoman Bethany Hallam responds after mask mandate backlash

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - A new masking effort to fight the rise in Covid will be introduced at an Allegheny County council meeting Tuesday.

Council members Bethany Hallam and Liv Bennet are putting forth legislation to require masks at all indoor gatherings and outdoor events of 250 people or more.

"I would love to hear from folks who are listening right now, who have opinions on the mask mandate," Hallam said Tuesday during the KDKA Radio Morning Show. "I would love for you to reach out and say what you want to see different. If you have a better idea for how we can stop Covid and get our lives back to normal, I want to hear it."

Those not complying could face fines of up to $100.

Hallam was seen in Buffalo over the weekend at the Steelers/Bills game without a mask.

"I think it's important that people remember who I am elected to
represent - It's the people of Allegheny County, not Erie County, New York," said Hallam.
