Allegheny County is moving forward with plans for a juvenile detention facility.
Leaders are working with the courts to establish either a county-run facility or a public-private partnership.
Sources tell News Radio KDKA the facility could be open in the next six months and will require several million dollars.
The county says the new facility will also include education, recreation and health, social and religious services.
There have been increased calls for a new detention facility as violence among juveniles rises.
The county has been without a juvenile detention center sine Shuman closed in September 2021
