A number of local programs aimed at preventing crimes are getting money from the state.
The money includes nearly $2.5 million to go to Allegheny County's Department of Human Services for its Rapid Employment and Development Initiative, or READI, which is aimed at intervention for those at-risk of participating in violent crimes.
Also, money for The Pittsburgh Contingency -- for two programs designed to help youth deal with emotional challenges and another using specialists and chaplains to try and get gang members to change their ways.
The grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency also includes $2.5 million for the Center for Victims, to help people who have been victims of gun violence.
Governor Wolf announced Wednesday, the additional $100 million in grants across Pennsylvania, bringing total investment to $355 million.
