Allegheny County reported 135 new COVID-19 related deaths on Thursday, in addition to 358 new cases.
In a tweet, the county Health Department said the large number of deaths was due to a backlog of reports from the State.
"There was a backlog at the state that resulted in the large number of deaths reported in this Daily Update.
"The dates of death ranged from December 16 to January 24. There were four deaths from December."
Since March, 2020, there have been 68,445 COVID-19 cases in the county which resulted in 4,199 hospitalizations and 1,412 deaths.
