Police are again advising the public to lock their car doors.
Pittsburgh Police say at least eight vehicle thefts occurred in the Banksville area overnight on April 8.
In every theft, the cars were left unlocked and the vehicles were not damaged, but items were taken from inside.
In addition to locking your car doors, police say to secure or remove items “so nothing is in plain view of potential thieves.”
An increased police presence is now operating in the area.
The latest car break-in incident has prompted Pittsburgh Councilwoman Theresa Kail Smith to call for a hearing.
"I have called for a hearing on crime," said Kail Smith. "I was going to wait until after the election because I want solutions, not politics, but it apparently can't wait. I'll post the date soon."
