A U.S. House member from the Pittsburgh area welcomes President Joe Biden's upcoming visit to East Palestine, Ohio

The White House says Biden will visit the area this morning.

17th District Representative Chris Deluzio says the toxic train derailment needs the spotlight a presidential visit will bring.

“We’re a year out this weekend and I’m still fighting to pass my bill, Railway Safety Act, that our senators and our Ohio neighbors are pushing in the Senate,” said Deluzio.

Deluzio proposed a bill last year to require additional inspections of railroad tracks in areas where trains carry hazardous materials and the rail cars carrying them.

Some residents say feel forgotten because Biden hasn't visited. The date isn't known yet.
